Pillars Open for Election
Pillars are the operational departments of the league—each one has different roles and responsibilities.
Ballot Specific Elections
Members running for ballot specific/special election positions are running for the specific position and are not eligible for consideration in the Spring Election Group Ballot. This election will be filling the following director positions:
-
Serves a one year term. As President of the Board of Directors and Executive Director of the League, you are responsible for ensuring the Board conducts League business within the parameters of our by-laws, facilitating the update of policies as needed, directing League business activities, chairing board meetings, and generally ensuring the continuous operation of our League.
The President works closely with all board members to ensure they have the league resources needed to carry out the functions of their pillar. The President works closely with the Treasurer to ensure financial solvency. The President also works closely with the Secretary to ensure administrative requirements for maintenance of our 501c3 non-profit status are being met.
-
Note: As a special election, elected members will be fulfilling the remaining duration of the existing term. This term is over in Fall 2022.
This position is responsible for all league coaching, training, safety, teams management, officiating, adherence to WFTDA rules and sanctioning requirements, scheduling, travel organization, overseeing the Return to Play Committee, and interleague communication in addition to all regular Board of Director responsibilities for League Management. The Games Pillar conducts business through monthly meetings, proactive communication, and ensuring active participation by all pillar members. Read more >
Spring Election Group Ballot
Members running on the group ballot to fill board of director positions will be awarded their pillar selection in order of seniority (for existing board members), then by number of votes. Members do not run for specific pillars and are not guaranteed any specific position.
-
Vice President (VP) of the Board of Directors serves second to the Executive Director (President) and may preside as the Executive Director in the absence of the President.
The VP’s role includes leading and facilitating any special projects for the league (ie., previously, Rage City Juniors; currently, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives), and supporting other board members for each pillar. The VP does not serve as the head of a specific pillar.
-
Marketing refers to any actions Rage City takes to attract an audience to recruitment, games, and events through high-quality messaging online and in print media. Marketing’s primary goal is to communicate value for prospective new members and fans through consistent, quality content and to continue strengthening brand loyalty.
Public relations director manages the creation of marketing messages that positively impacts the public image of the league. It is PR’s duty to ensure that league brand content is consistent, well timed, and newsworthy.
-
The Moneymakers Pillar Director is responsible for coordinating and directing the league’s fundraising and sponsorship activities. This pillar also coordinates the sale and ordering of our merchandise. The Leagues Annual Silent Auction is coordinated within this pillar, and this event is our largest fundraising event of the season, historically raising up to $24,000 for our league.
Roles + Responsibilities
As a Board of Director you will be responsible for:
Being a positive representative of the league as an organization
Chair your action committee by ensuring active participation by committee members
Communicate committee issues and action to the Board of Directors through monthly reports and board meetings
Attend Board of Director monthly meetings
Participate in all league and board business decisions
Adhere to Membership Policies including active participation, committee service, and Code of Conduct
Help raise funds
The member elected as president will assume all the above responsibilities of a director, and will be additionally responsible for:
Facilitating all board meetings
Working closely with the Treasurer to oversee all financials of the organization
Please Note: These are very serious roles with very serious responsibilities—we are looking for members who are dedicated to the sport, have a deep interest in Rage City, and are passionate about the success of the league. We are also looking for members who know the history of Rage City—not that you must be a vet but you've done your research about the league. This not a popularity contest—please don't nominate someone because their hair looks great or they're your BFF. If there is a person you know who would be phenomenal at a position, nominate them (just ask them first)!
