Membership Portal

Wild Apricot

RCRD will be switching all members and volunteers over to our new membership portal, Wild Apricot starting in January 2025.

WA will automatically manage all season fee and dues payments. For current monthly dues paying members (including Juniors):

•AFTER 12/31 please create your account and select the appropriate membership type
•Make sure that the season fee option is unselected, otherwise you will be charged (again)
•Complete the intake paperwork again (sorry only time you’ll need to do it twice in one season)
•Pay your January dues with the card you would like to have the recurring payments charged to.
You’re done! The system will automatically charge your dues on the 1st of each month. For current skating members who prepaid the season:

Follow the above steps but you should not be prompted to pay. That should be disabled since you’ve already paid for this season. Please contact me if it prompts you to enter your cc info.Non-skating members:
Please see above directions. You should not be promted to pay as long as you’ve unselected the season fee in the sign up process.Non-member volunteers and officials:

Your level of “membership” for WA should not attempt to collect payment. Signing up is for our records only, like completing the season paperwork. ALL RECURRING DUES FROM SQUARE WILL BE CANCELLED. No January payments will process. If you are charged via Square after December, please reach out.

Please make sure you sign up in January so that you do not fall behind on monthly dues. We will deactivate WA memberships at the end of the skating portion of the season to end recurring dues payments.

Board of Directors

  • The Board of Directors shall be elected to a specific position during either Spring or Fall Elections as outlined below.

    Spring Elections:

    • The President shall be elected for a term of 12 months.

    • The Vice President shall be elected for a term of 12 months.

    • The Fundraising + Sponsorship Director shall be elected for a term of 12 months.

    • The Games Director shall be elected for a term of 24 months, beginning and ending in odd numbered years.

    Winter Elections:

    • The Marketing + Public Relations Director shall be elected for a term of 12 months.

    • The Membership Director shall be elected for a term of 12 months.

    • The Teams + Training Director shall be elected for a term of 24 months during Fall Elections, beginning and ending in odd numbered years.

If for any reason, such as resignation, a Director’s term ends before the expiration of that Director's term, the Board will hold a special election as soon as reasonably possible to elect a replacement, who will serve out the remainder of that term. It is expected that under normal circumstances, this should take no more than two months. The Board can appoint an interim Director until such time as the special election can be conducted. Interim Directors do not retain Director voting rights.

  • As a Board of Director you will be responsible for:

    1. Being a positive representative of the league as an organization

    2. Chair your action committee by ensuring active participation by committee members

    3. Communicate committee issues and action to the Board of Directors through monthly reports and board meetings

    4. Attend Board of Director monthly meetings

    5. Participate in all league and board business decisions

    6. Adhere to Membership Policies including active participation, committee service, and Code of Conduct

    7. Help raise funds

The member elected as president will assume all the above responsibilities of a director, and will be additionally responsible for:

    1. Facilitating all board meetings

    2. Working closely with the Treasurer to oversee all financials of the organization

Please Note: These are very serious roles with very serious responsibilities—we are looking for members who are dedicated to the sport, have a deep interest in Rage City, and are passionate about the success of the league. We are also looking for members who know the history of Rage City—not that you must be a vet but you’ve done your research about the league. This not a popularity contest—please don’t nominate someone because their hair looks great or they’re your BFF. If there is a person you know who would be phenomenal at a position, nominate them (just ask them first)!

  • To be eligible to run or vote in the elections, members must:

    • Complete membership paperwork.

    • Pay the annual membership fee.

All nominations must be made by league members in good standing. All candidates must be league members in good standing.

All league voting will adhere to RCRD bylaws.

All league elections and league votes will be anonymous.

Proxy voting is not allowed. Absentee voting is allowed by contacting the Secretary during an election.

Please Note: 67% of board must be active, injured, or retired skaters or officials. The remaining 33%—two positions—can be non-skaters (for example, coaches or volunteers).

Pillars

Rage City is a league run 100% by volunteers. All league members are expected to join a pillar and volunteer a portion of their time to help the league operate! Pillars are the operational departments of the league—each one with has different roles and responsibilities.

  • Serves a one year term. As President of the Board of Directors and Executive Director of the League, the president is responsible for ensuring the Board conducts League business within the parameters of our by-laws, facilitating the update of policies as needed, directing League business activities, chairing board meetings, and generally ensuring the continuous operation of our League.

The President works closely with all board members to ensure they have the league resources needed to carry out the functions of their pillar. The President works closely with the Treasurer to ensure financial solvency. The President also works closely with the Secretary to ensure administrative requirements for maintenance of our 501c3 non-profit status are being met.

  • Vice President (VP) of the Board of Directors serves second to the Executive Director (President) and may preside as the Executive Director in the absence of the President.

The VP’s role includes leading and facilitating any special projects for the league (ie., previously, Rage City Juniors; currently, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives), and supporting other board members for each pillar. The VP does not serve as the head of a specific pillar.

  • The Games pillar consists of all things related to game day production including the coordination of the game day medical professionals, halftime show, anthem singer, food trucks, DJ, game announcers, and more. There are three chairs in the pillar: game day chair, volunteer chair, and bar manager chair.

The game day chair works on the group rotations, game day jobs, and game day schedules that RCRD members fill on game days. The volunteer chair coordinates the assisting volunteers and coordinates ticketing and pricing—for games and all other Rage City Roller Derby events—through online ticket sale platforms. The bar manager chair coordinates liquor permits, beer ordering, etc. The Events pillar works closely with PR and Moneymakers pillars for game day production and the Annual Silent Auction. • Teams and Training pillar is responsible for all league coaching, training, safety, teams management, officiating, adherence to WFTDA rules and sanctioning requirements, scheduling, travel organization, overseeing the Return to Play Committee, and interleague communication in addition to all regular Board of Director responsibilities for League Management. The Teams and Training Pillar conducts business through monthly meetings, proactive communication, and ensuring active participation by all pillar members. Read more >

  • Marketing refers to any actions Rage City takes to attract an audience to recruitment, games, and events through high-quality messaging online and in print media. Marketing’s primary goal is to communicate value for prospective new members and fans through consistent, quality content and to continue strengthening brand loyalty.

Public relations director manages the creation of marketing messages that positively impacts the public image of the league. It is PR’s duty to ensure that league brand content is consistent, well timed, and newsworthy. Read more >

  • The Membership pillar is responsible for recruitment and retention of skaters. In addition to onboarding new skaters, this pillar is oversees recruitment events, maintains the membership list as well as tracks members who are voting status, LOA, and non-league members (volunteers).

  • The Moneymakers Pillar Director is responsible for coordinating and directing the league’s fundraising and sponsorship activities. This pillar also coordinates the sale and ordering of our merchandise. The Leagues Annual Silent Auction is coordinated within this pillar, and this event is our largest fundraising event of the season, historically raising up to $24,000 for our league.

Grievances

The basic rules are to show respect for others and adhere to the Codes of Conduct for RCRD and WFTDA. This includes sportsmanship — both on and off the track — toward all RCRD members and participants, the public, or any other leagues’ members and participants.

  • If an issue arises, communication by the parties involved should be the first step in resolving conflict. If direct communication or reporting to a coach or captain is not possible contact the Grievance Committee through written submission available on RCRD’s website and RCRD’s Slack page.

  • Grievances can be reported any time, but timely reporting is highly encouraged. Grievances reported after extended timelines and prior seasons may limit the Grievance Committee’s ability to fully research the incident.

Once a grievance has been submitted, the Grievance Committee will contact you within 24 hours of receipt.

They then will have 10 calendar days to investigate and present disposition.

  • Reported incidents will be managed according to the color zones defined below:

Yellow - Microaggression or Minor Incidences
Potential Disposition: Mediation, directed action, apology

Orange - Macroaggression or Intentional Actions
Potential Disposition: Mediation, directed action, apology

    Red - Egregious Incident
Potential Disposition: Immediate suspension, extended suspension, termination of RCRD involvement

  • In the event you don’t feel the presented redress is sufficient for the grievance, you have the option to submit an appeal. The grievance is then escalated to the RCRD Board of Directors, who will complete their review and present their determination within five (5) calendar days.

Note: Please do not send any grievances to the RCRD BOD unless it is a grievance against the Grievance Committee as a whole.

Submitting a Grievance

If an issue arises, communication by the parties involved should be the first step in resolving conflict. If direct communication or reporting to/discussing with a coach or captain is not possible, contact the Grievance Committee via the link below. Submissions go directly to private committee review and will not be shared outside of the committee unless they deem it appropriate to escalate to the Board of Directors.
